Have we hit a wall with personal technology?

Since the .com bubble burst of 2001, there have been three major waves of personal technology.  (1) The smartphone / app revolution that began in 2007 with the introduction of the Apple iPhone.  (2)  Social networking which began to gain traction in 2008/2009 as Facebook and Twitter became widely accepted and (3) the introduction of the tablet in 2010 as Apple lead the way with the iPad.  What is next?  Is there something new coming down the line that will change our lives like these three things have?

If you keep up to date on technology and products, by reading websites and news it does not seem like there is anything new on the way.  Think back to 1999 when the internet was booming.  When every company, product and organization was getting out the name of it's website.  I remember thinking at that time:  What is next?  Several years later, everyone had a smartphone and every company had "an app for that".  Who could have predicted apps, Angry Birds, Twitter and how much we rely on our smartphones?

It's hard to think of new class of technology products that will change our lives as much as smartphones, social media and even tablets have.

Think about this...combining your TV with your computer...a split TV screen that displays a show on one side and a computer screen on the other.  Allowing you to research, blog, Tweet, Facebook, comment on what you are watching.  The ultimate in multi-tasking.  Watching TV and using a computer at the same time...
